Reading Time: 6 mins read

flag_on_houseOver the last month, we asked our Facebook Fans to submit their greatest Success Stories for consideration for our brand new Real Estate Pro of the Month contest. Brokers and REALTORS® nationwide submitted tremendous stories of their accomplishments and the many challenges they face day in and day out – and you chose the winner! We sincerely thank everyone who participated! To enter this month’s Real Estate Pro of the Month contest click here. Winners’ stories will be shared online at RISMedia.com and in an upcoming issue of RISMedia’s Real Estate magazine!

Congratulations to Janice Soto, broker in charge for Coldwell Banker Seaside Realty for sharing her story of a battle she fought to finalize a short sale for a coast guard family who was transferred out of her region in North Carolina. Soto’s short sale transaction took months for her to complete, as she navigated hurdle after hurdle in order to reach her end goal: properly serving her client and preventing a foreclosure. “I spent more time on that short sale than I spent on any transaction in my life,” says Soto. “It wasn’t about the money. It became a challenge. I was determined to get it done for that family.” Her winning submission can be found in full below, but first, we talked to Soto to learn more about her story, career and market.

Nick Caruso: What regions do you serve, Janice?

Janice Soto: I cover Elizabeth City, N.C., and also Camden, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Currituck– all different kinds of counties in North Carolina. Our main office is based in Bear County and I manage the one over in Elizabeth City.

NC: What kinds of buyers do you usually work with?

JS: Most of our buyers are military folks because our area is surrounded by a Coast Guard base and close to Virginia, where the Navy and Marines and additional Coast Guards are.

NC: What is the current status of your market?
