Real Living Lifestyles is partnering with Jenn Blake Real Estate Group to sponsor the 37th Annual Old Pro’s 4th of July Run & Ride event in Scripps Ranch. Since 1997 the 10K race has been dedicated to the memory of Ron McElliott (who just so happens to be Jenn Blake’s dad).

Both male and female winners of the 10K are awarded the Ron McElliott Cup. Mr. McElliott had a huge impact within the Scripps Ranch community and was the first chairman of the 10K; his hard work and leadership helped to create the strong foundation for the event hosted in Scripps Ranch annually on the 4th of July.  Tens of thousands of people have enjoyed this event over the past 37 years. McElliott also served as Chairman of the Board and President of the Old Pros. “I’m proud that my dad, Ron McElliott, was a Founding Father of the Scripps Ranch Old Pros.  The idea for a men’s athletic club began with seven like-minded guys from the  neighborhood. They incorporated in 1980 as the Scripps Ranch Old Pros, with a mission established ‘To promote sports and have a good time,'” says Blake. The Old Pros are committed to giving back to their community year round.  In addition to the 4th of July Ride & Run, the The Old Pros organize men’s softball and soccer leagues and contribute to local student scholarships.

On the morning of July 4th, the 10K race starts at 7am.  The 10K course wraps around the scenic Miramar Lake. There will be medals for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishers in each 10K division. There will also be many more events to enjoy. Open to all is a 2-mile fun run for walkers and runners alike, strollers are welcome to this event. There is also a 12-mile bike ride around Miramar Lake and 28-mile bike ride that takes the riders into through Santaluz and all the way into the Poway area. Lastly, for advanced riders there is a 50-mile ride through San Diego. All courses end in Hoyt Park with music and festivities, and a Beer Garden for those 21 years and older.
