As CEO of California Regional Multiple Listing Service, Inc. (CRMLS), the largest and most recognized subscriber-based multiple listing service in the United States, Art Carter oversees the company’s strategic direction. He is responsible for leading local, state and national initiatives and represents CRMLS as a member of industry groups COVE and the MLS RoundTable, as well as in the role of chair of the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO). 

Carter joined CRMLS as CEO in August 2005, after serving as CEO of Pacific West Association of REALTORS®. Under Carter’s leadership, CRMLS has grown into the largest multiple listing service in the country. The company continues to make advances to share data among agents and brokerages across California. Carter’s team completed the integration of the North San Diego County and Pacific Southwest Associations of REALTORS® into the CRMLS in September. This was a huge undertaking that took several years to accomplish, with contributions from technical, training, marketing, compliance and service professionals.

Carter is proud of the work his team did on the project, and appreciates the recognition that he and his colleagues have received. “I am honored to be included among professionals who have led our industry through this year of rapid growth and progress,” he says. “The MLS is a critically important part of how the real estate industry functions, and MLS leaders must continuously work to keep pace with change and to innovate on our own.”
