Austin Guy is CEO and co-founder of Homebloq, which is developing best-in-class technology to help brokers better work with clients. Unlike other technologies that disintermediate the broker from the home-buying process, Homebloq’s platform focuses on educating consumers and helping brokers and buyers collaborate. “We are focused on closing the engagement gap that exists between brokers and their clients,” Guy says.

Homebloq combines lead-generating tools with an MLS-powered, mobile-first collaborative search tool to help brokers connect with and convert leads. It uses listing and agent data from other sources to attract buyers with a branded, one-agent-only way to look at homes. Since Homebloq focuses on independent brokerages, it can often use more creative outreach strategies and introduce new technologies faster than national franchises.

Users create an account, and then property “portfolios” are created and matching properties are found using local MRED, Zillow or Redfin listing identifiers. Listing agents can then share updated portfolios with leads via email. Guy says Homebloq plans to integrate with other leading home search portals. The company is engaged with the Chicago Association of REALTORS® for a licensing agreement.

Homebloq’s blog has been growing and is often featured in RETechnology’s newsletter. In addition, the company has been contacted by major news outlets. Guy believes this is because Homebloq’s blog offers unique perspectives and in-depth coverage of major topics in real estate.
