Soomekh’s son, Ezra, received his first prosthesis at 11 months old. Soomekh and her husband, Clayton Frech, co-founded Angel City Sports in 2013. The group hosts the Angel City Games, a family-friendly event that celebrates the talents and strengths of adaptive athletes.
The games are open to children, adults and military veterans with physical disabilities from around the world. Participants have opportunities to compete and to learn new skills from expert coaches. Celebrities and professional athletes have attended the events to show their support.
In 2019, Angel City Games completed its fifth year. Several new sports were added, including archery, swimming, wheelchair tennis, sitting volleyball and table tennis for athletes ages 3 to 72.
Soomekh says of her work with Angel City Sports, “It’s been our life, our blood, our everything. We’ve committed everything to helping the disabled community be able to enjoy, learn, engage and thrive through Angel City Sports.”
Soomekh has acted in dozens of highly acclaimed films, including Academy Award winner Crash, Mission: Impossible III, Saw III and Syriana (director’s cut). She has had recent roles on several hit TV shows, including Parenthood, Perception, Castle and CSI. On the red carpet, Soomekh promotes healthier homes and living and supports disabled children.
