Matt Widdows

HomeSmart International

As the founder and CEO of HomeSmart International, Matt Widdows guides and casts the vision for the company. He leads HomeSmart’s team in developing cutting-edge systems and in-house proprietary technology that enable the company’s franchisees and agents to spend more time focusing on clients and profitability.

“Creating productive and useful tech is my most significant focus,” says Widdows. “It is the biggest impact I have on the company today and has always been a large part of what I do.”

In 2019, HomeSmart rolled out the rewrite of its proprietary RealSmart Broker and RealSmart Agent platforms, as well as developed and released its RealSmart Agent Mobile app. Widdows says the completion of these projects was a massive accomplishment, and the positive response helped lead HomeSmart to surpass the 17,000-agent mark and open more than 35 new locations during the year.

“I’ve never been good at taking a moment to look back at accomplishments or achievements,” notes Widdows. “I’m always looking forward to the future, aligning and positioning the leadership team so that, together, we can reach our growth goals and set HomeSmart up to dominate the industry.”

In the early 1990s, Widdows created a tech company serving the medical industry and got his real estate license. After selling the company, he focused on real estate, with a vision of combining traditional industry concepts with innovative technology. He opened HomeSmart in 2000 and has grown the Arizona-based brokerage from two agents to a nationwide franchisor in over 30 states.
