In a move that signaled a major shift toward reconciliation and brokerage alignment, industry icon Sherry Chris came out of retirement in January 2025 to serve as special advisor to National Association of Realtors®’ (NAR) CEO Nykia Wright and large brokerage firms.
An 18-year veteran of Anywhere Real Estate and former CEO of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and ERA, Chris was tapped for her unmatched expertise and reputation in residential real estate. Her primary mandate in 2025 was to rebuild fractured trust between the association and its most critical stakeholders: the leaders of the nation’s largest brokerages, franchises and independent firms.
Throughout 2025, Chris served as a strategic bridge, engaging in one-on-one dialogues with brokerage owners to solicit direct feedback on post-settlement practice changes and the future of the industry. Her presence alongside Wright at major industry events, including the Realtor® Broker Summit, provided a familiar and trusted voice during a period of intense industry scrutiny.
Chris played a pivotal role in the development of NAR’s 2026 – 2028 Strategic Plan, ensuring that the needs of brokerage operators remained at the forefront of the association’s modernization efforts. By leveraging her decades of executive leadership to foster open dialogue, Chris has been instrumental in ensuring NAR remains a relevant, trusted partner for the entire real estate ecosystem.
