In 2019, the 20 Southern California offices of Tarbell, REALTORS® merged into four Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices franchises. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices acquired the Tarbell offices in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, as well as the agents who formerly worked at those offices and Tarbell’s escrow company.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices decided to acquire the Tarbell, REALTORS® offices because the company respected Tarbell’s distinguished record and believed the merger would strengthen its brand and add value to the brokerages. Ron Tarbell, CEO of Tarbell, REALTORS®, said his company’s values of integrity, professionalism and service to the communities it serves align with those of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, which has the same passion for the real estate business that has driven the Tarbell family for decades.

Ron Tarbell is the third generation in his family to lead the company, which was founded by his grandfather, Frank Tarbell, in 1926. Over the years, Tarbell, REALTORS® expanded to offer escrow and mortgage services, in addition to helping customers buy and sell homes. In 2018, its offices generated a total of over $1.1 billion in real estate sales volume.

The real estate landscape has changed dramatically in the decades since the company’s founding. As technology began to take center stage, Tarbell, REALTORS® continued to focus on practices that had led to its success and sustained growth: providing excellent service and forging personal relationships.
