Ask The Newsmakers: Laying a Path for Future Leaders

Above (L-R): Ida & Minette Schwartz, Mor Zucker, Erin LeBan, Tracey Esling and Lauren Orsini.

March is Women’s History Month—a perfect time to acknowledge the women who are currently making history in the real estate sector, many of whom were recognized in RISMedia’s class of 2025 Real Estate Newsmakers.

As more women aspire to leadership positions that are often male-dominated, we asked a few of our 2025 Real Estate Newsmakers the following question:

“Having achieved success in your own career, what would you say to other women aspiring to follow in your footsteps?

Here’s what these accomplished female leaders had to say:

Achievers
Lauren Orsini
Sales Associate
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, REALTORS®

“I strongly believe success in real estate begins with understanding your ‘why.’ Creating a meaningful connection to your goals will guide your journey in real estate to new levels. For me, my ‘why’ isn’t tied to sales or numbers—it stems from a deep desire to connect with the people I serve. By understanding my clients’ ‘why’ and aligning it with their goals, we craft intentional strategies that deliver superior results and connections that go beyond scratching the surface. This approach goes beyond the logistics of a transaction; it’s about understanding the emotional journey of each client. Building these meaningful connections allows us to focus not only on the process, but the emotional aspect, ensuring every step is as fulfilling as the destination.”

Achievers
Ida & Minette Schwartz
Principal l Senior Director of Luxury Sales
Compass

“Trust is the key to success. Choose mentors and partners who inspire and elevate you. While careful planning is essential, it is equally important to take action and embrace challenges. Working within a mother-daughter dynamic has effectively helped us address these obstacles. Celebrating successes together also fosters mutual joy and a sense of purpose for us. Stay focused, confident and open to learning. It’s in overcoming obstacles that growth and opportunities truly emerge.”

Crusaders
Tracey Esling
Coach/Trainer/REALTOR®
Legacy Real Estate & Associates

“First and foremost, stay true to yourself. In our industry and most industries, we as women have tendencies to transform who we are to mimic others in leadership. My experience would say that it can become uncomfortable and hard to keep up with. The only person’s skin you will ever be comfortable in is your own, so stay the path, stay true to you, trust your instincts and, most importantly, your gut will always lead you in the right direction.”

Crusaders
Erin LeBan
Senior Director of Field Marketing
ERA Real Estate

“Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to try something new. The world continues to evolve, and you should, too, on both a personal and professional front. Setbacks are part of the journey, and resilience is key. Always stay true to your values and passions, and never underestimate the power of your unique perspective.”

Crusaders
Mor Zucker
Team Lead
Team Denver Homes – LIV Sotheby’s International Realty

“Success in real estate is built on determination, collaboration and authenticity. To women aspiring to excel, I encourage you to embrace your unique perspective and recognize the strength in unity. My all-female team exemplifies how empowering each other leads to exceptional achievements. Surround yourself with a supportive network, seek mentors who inspire you and never hesitate to take bold steps forward. Challenges are inevitable, but perseverance and a client-first mindset will set you apart. By staying true to your values and fostering connections, you can build a thriving career while inspiring others to do the same.”
