Journal Your Way to Better Productivity

Did you know journaling can help you boost your productivity? The most successful people keep a journal of their days. There’s even a popular system that combines a to-do list with journaling. Many agents take a few minutes at the end of their days to think about what they need to get done the following day. If this sounds like you, take an extra 10 or 15 minutes to write a few notes about your day.

How Journaling Makes You More Productive

Improve performance – Thinking about your day helps you process the day’s events and commits it to memory. If you write down what happened you can target your priorities, create a better to-do list and get more done each day.

Get motivated – Nothing is more motivational than success, especially when you overcome a challenge. Writing it down allows you to reflect on your success when you need a confidence boost or if you’re facing a similar challenge in the future. This surge of motivation will help you accomplish even more.

Get perspective – Nothing impedes productivity like feelings of frustration or negativity. Writing about what you’ve been through can help you fight those feelings and gain and maintain perspective. If your business hits a tough spot or you have a rough day, you can look back through your journal and focus on the good things that happened.

What Can You Write About?

A journal is a great place to take notes about your daily life. The act of writing it down helps commit it to memory and ensures it stays at the top of your mind.

  • Challenges – Jot down a few notes about a challenge you’re facing. How do you plan to face it? What are some thoughts on it?
  • Successes – Will you mark the day with a V for Victory? Perhaps you got a record number of referrals in a single day or your favorite clients signed the final papers on their dream home. Whatever it is, note it.
  • Ideas – Sometimes ideas pop out of the blue. If you want to remember something for later, but aren’t ready to act on it this second, write it down. Got an idea for a client party this summer or want to remember a great quote you heard? Write it down. That way you can refer to it at a later date.

If you want to get more done, get started journaling today. You just need 10 minutes, a pen and some paper. Give it a try and watch your productivity improve.
