For the second consecutive year, CENTURY 21 New Millennium has been named one of The Washington Post’s 2019 Top Workplaces in the Washington, D.C. area. Among the 152 organizations recognized as Top Workplaces, New Millennium ranked No. 2 in the large company category across all industries, and No. 1 in real estate.
Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection. This year’s list honors more than 150 companies, including government contractors, law firms, nonprofits, schools and businesses.
“Now in its sixth year, The Post’s Top Workplaces list continues to reflect companies in the region that cultivate a connection with their workforce,” says Washington Post Top Workplaces Editor Dion Haynes. “It’s clear from the survey that these organizations share a commitment to providing support and an environment that makes employees feel valued and respected.” Â
New Millennium was also featured in a special edition of The Washington Post Magazine. An excerpt from the Magazine is below:
At CENTURY 21 New Millennium, a $3 billion-a-year real estate business with 900 agents and brokers across D.C., Maryland and Virginia, there’s no cookie-cutter career path. Co-Owner Mary Lynn Stone says some of her company’s best agents have had previous careers in industries as diverse as insurance and child advocacy. They are selected because they are “community-minded” and know every twist and turn of the neighborhoods they work in, including the local leaders, the gathering places and the schools. The basic skillset is to “meet other people’s needs, and eventually they will meet yours,” Stone says. “That’s how you build your business.”
In 2018, New Millennium celebrated its 20th anniversary serving D.C., Maryland and Virginia homebuyers and sellers, opened its 20th office—a boutique-style space in Arlington, Va.—and was honored as the top CENTURY 21 firm in the Mid-Atlantic Region for a 20th consecutive year. Further, the company ranked as the No. 2 CENTURY 21 company in the world by units and No. 3 by sales volume. In December, New Millennium, in partnership with Harbour Insurance and Kaiser Permanente, introduced a groundbreaking group health insurance plan for the more than 900 independent contractors who call the company home.
The Washington Post hosted an awards ceremony on Thursday, June 20 to recognize the top-ranked companies. New Millennium President and Co-Owner Mary Lynn Stone was in attendance to accept the No. 2 overall honor.
