50 Days of Leaders: After Experiencing 9/11 Firsthand, Balance Was Key

August 23, 2007
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, August 24, 2007–After making her way down 36 flights of stairs in the dark after terrorists struck the World Trade Center, and then watching the second tower fall, Donna Hogan’s life changed forever on Sept. 11, 2001. In real estate since 1987, this industry pro knew it was time to seek out balance in her life and work. Read her incredible story and it’s easy to see why selecting her as one of this year’s Realtors on the Rise was an obvious choice.

In real estate since: 1987 Personal motto: “A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating the heart is at home.” A day that she’ll remember: Hogan experienced Sept. 11 firsthand, fumbling down 36 flights of stairs in the dark at World Trade Center and witnessing the second tower crash. “It was too much to comprehend.”

In 2005, still witnessing military men holding rifles outside of her New York office and orange alert threats were constantly being implemented, Hogan and her husband decided to move. Hogan admits that, “No matter how much you achieve in your career, there comes a time when you must balance out your spiritual journey, your career and your life.” In October 2005, they moved to metro Atlanta.

Agents who want to learn more about balancing work and life should plan to attend this year’s Leadership Conference in New York City on Sept. 5 & 6. With dozens of industry leading speakers and educational sessions and plenty of high-level networking time, it’s an event not to miss.
