DHL and QuantumDigital Team-up to Bring New On-Demand Print Service

December 14, 2007, 4 pm
Reading Time: 2 mins read

RISMEDIA, Dec. 17, 2007-QuantumDigital, an online service provider for direct mail, on-demand digital printing and eMarketing solutions, announced that it has reached an agreement with DHL to locate two of its Xerox iGen3TM printers at DHL’s Wilmington, Ohio airport logistics hub. This second facility allows QuantumDigital to process and fulfill print orders as late as 2 a.m. and still have next-day business delivery.

“This co-location strategy will significantly reduce the transportation and delivery costs for print orders that are generated in the Wilmington facility,” said Steve Damman, CEO of QuantumDigital. “We chose to collaborate with DHL on this initiative because of our mutual interest in continuing to add value and provide cost-effective solutions to our customers.”

“This partnership is a key component of QuantumDigital’s strategy to provide its customers with variable data and print-on-demand materials at an exceptionally quick turnaround rate,” said Steve Damman. “We now have a second print fulfillment center giving us additional capacity to create even more real-time variable data and to print personalized materials and marketing programs that our enterprise customers are asking for.”

According to the company, QuantumDigital will be able to offer its customers more cost-effective shipping rates, later ordering hours for next-day shipping and redundancy in case of disaster. By having multiple print fulfillment centers, QuantumDigital can provide its customers redundancy in case of a natural disaster or system crash. This will bring QuantumDigital’s total number of Xerox iGen3TM printers to six, with the remaining four housed in its Austin facility headquarters. The additional printers will increase QuantumDigital’s capacity output from 8 million to 12 million pieces per month.

“DHL is a uniquely qualified partner for QuantumDigital, giving us the ability to offer our customers more flexibility, lower shipping rates and multiple-facility redundancy,” said Freddie Baird, EVP, and COO of QuantumDigital. “We are taking this opportunity to invest in customer service and leverage DHL’s international reach, creating more value for our customers and DHL’s.”

The two Xerox iGen3TM in Wilmington produced their first print orders on November 28, 2007.
