5 Ways to Use the Internet and Grow Success

Home Best Practices
Commentary by Jacqui Markowitz

RISMEDIA, May 14, 2009-Do you want to know what I am sick and tired of? Internet marketing! It all feels like a scam. Almost every post on Twitter leads us to “get rich quick” sales pages that promise to teach us how to make millions with the latest and greatest Internet marketing secrets. Frankly, at this point I am tuning out the entire drivel. Every sales page looks the same. Every message is recycled. I am completely turned off, unsubscribed and left cold. I am determined not to follow the pack by succumbing to the conventional tactics of Internet marketing. I will strive to maintain the integrity of our company.

I’ve been doing a lot of research and trying to learn from the pros who seem to have this whole “cyber thing” down to a science.

Here’s what I have learned so far. When someone clicks on your site, it leads them to a page that follows the following five rules. These rules represent the formula used by the greatest and most successful (so they say) Internet marketers.

1. Proclaim your integrity with a video clip of you talking from your office. It is preferable that you use your home office-it rings success. What’s not to love about working from home and making money?
2. The longer the better. There is no limit to the length of your sales page or the number of times you repeat yourself.
3. Make it attractive. Use moving arrows and big red print. And by all means highlight the important bits, like how much money you earned in a day and how easy it was.
4. Tell your story. Oh yes, and always start from a place of poverty and expand upon the miracle of your quick and seamless track to the pinnacle of success. The rags-to-riches story never seems to grow old.
5. Arrogance and gratitude. Let everyone know how wonderful, yet humbly blessed and grateful you are, to have found such abundance in your life. Don’t forget to mention that you never got into business for the money; you did it to help mankind in some way. Make a believer out of me.

I admit, I’m new to Internet marketing, but there has been no honeymoon phase. Rather, I have turned off as I have tuned in. For the most part, I’m uninspired. As Frame of Mind Coaching ventures into the Internet marketplace, I intend to chart new territories, and stretch the creative box to inform, increase awareness and entertain our prospective clients. I would like our success to be measured by how many people write us notes telling us how much they connected with our stories, and share their stories with us.

Our success will be a reflection of the spectacular results our clients experience when they participate in our coaching programs and journal with us. I don’t want to make our clients feel bad about their lives, dig them into a hole and then have them pay us to pull them out. I want to celebrate their successes and help them move to greater places.

The Internet presents a huge opportunity to connect with our customer, and we each have to decide what kind of connection we want to make.
