Next on NAHREP Radio: The Future of Housing Finance and Its Impact on Underserved Buyers

RISMEDIA, October 28, 2010—The future of housing finance may also determine the fate of the next generation of minority home buyers. With the future of Fannie and Freddie up in the air, CRAs under scrutiny and access to credit tighter than ever, already challenged underserved home buyers could be left out in the cold. Gary Acosta, NAHREP co-founder; Armando Falcon, former OFHEO regulator and now political consultant; Jim Park, president of AREAA and co-president of New Vista Asset Management; and Tom Deutsch, executive director of the American Securitization Forum will appear on the November 2 show of NAHREP Radio to discuss possible remedies and how they will impact minorities.

The show is broadcast live at 9 a.m. PST/11 a.m. CST/Noon EST on alternating Tuesdays. The broadcast can be found here.

Various studies have confirmed that minority neighborhoods shouldered the brunt of losses in the housing crisis due to the proliferation of subprime loans. Throughout the crisis, critics have argued that minorities were unable to handle the responsibilities of homeownership despite the damaging effects of unsustainable higher cost mortgages. “The future housing finance system must offer protections without shutting off access to safe financing options that makes sustainable homeownership possible for working class families,” said NAHREP Chair Alex Chaparro.

The Voice of Hispanic Real Estate is an Internet talk radio program produced by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, a non-profit trade association with more than 18,000 members in 48 states and 50 affiliate chapters.
