Talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, have bought a 13-acre estate in Montecito, Calif, for $26.5 million.
The two-story, Tuscan-style villa was built in the 1928 by renowned architect Wallace Frost from locally quarried stone, but was renovated heftily by earlier owner and designer, John Saladino. The property, with greeting wrought-iron gates, has a quarter-mile-long driveway that winds through olive and eucalyptus trees.
DeGeneres and de Rossi can look forward to heating things up in their new home, which includes radiant heat floors, as well nine fireplaces. The villa below showcases an 800-square foot living room, dining room and media room. The adjoining kitchen and breakfast room open up to their lush outdoor gardens.
The master bedroom and bathroom and a second en suite bedroom are downstairs; three more en suite bedrooms and a sitting room are upstairs. Bathroom fixtures include a Roman hand basin and an Italian neoclassical marble tub, dating from about 1720.
All around, the mansion boasts five bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 10,500 square feet of living space, which is plenty of room for funny-lady DeGeneres to get her dance on.
With de Rossi’s recent success reprising her role as Lindsay Bluthe Fünke in the recently rebooted “Arrested Development” and a brand new pad to entertain in, things are looking up for this Hollywood couple.
