Engel & Völkers North America has announced its support and participation in the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015 (LA2015) taking place last week.

Anthony Hitt, CEO of Engel & Völkers North America, was among the honored guests who attended the Opening Ceremony, entering the LA Coliseum in the Parade of Athletes with the team representing Switzerland and, later, awarded medals to athletes who competed in the mixed team bocce event.

Hitt also joined other CEOs including those from Coca Cola, Mattel and Bank of America to attend the event’s corporate breakfast, “Empowering Your Culture While Changing the World.” The group shared their ideas and perspectives on ways to work with corporate partners in the future to create more inclusive communities. Special Olympics International CEO Janet Froetscher and Y&R Global CEO David Sable hosted the breakfast.

“Since we announced our partnership with Special Olympics as the first cause-marketing partner of its Play Unified campaign, I am proud to say that brokers and advisors throughout our network have contributed both time and donations toward Special Olympics and the World Games,” says Hitt.

Engel & Völkers Santa Monica, Engel & Völkers Beverly Hills, Engel & Völkers Los Angeles, Engel & Völkers Westlake Village, Engel & Völkers Portland and Engel & Völkers Los Cabo showed their joint support as a Champion Sponsor of LA2015.

“We have been supporting Special Olympics in Santa Monica for a year now and are proud to be able to take part in this worldwide event as a sponsor,” says Engel & Völkers Santa Monica brokerage owner Sandra Miller.

“I’ve always been proud to provide the best service to those living and moving to Los Angeles, but I’ve never been more proud of our city than I am now as the host of these World Games,” says Raphael Barragán, owner of Engel & Völkers Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.

In addition to Hitt, Miller and Barragán, honored guests from Engel & Völkers included Sandra Wilken, owner of Engel & Völkers Scottsdale; Dougan Jones who, along with Paul Benson, is the owner of Engel & Völkers Newport Beach and Engel & Völkers Park City; Tom Kunz, EVP, Engel & Völkers North America; and Charles Kim, communications director, Engel & Völkers North America.

With 6,500 athletes and 2,000 coaches representing 165 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world in 2015, as well as being the single biggest event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games.
