As CEO of eXp World Holdings, Inc., Glenn Sanford’s biggest goals are to focus on the agent value proposition and continually put agents in a position to earn generous commissions while building equity and other benefits. Sanford believes that since agents and brokers do the bulk of the work in real estate, they should be rewarded with the benefits of being a shareholder and income based on their level of contribution. This prompted him to found the first cloud-based brokerage, eXp Realty, in 2009.
Through Sanford’s leadership and vision, eXp Realty is leading the charge in the virtual workspace. The company had 6,511 agents at the end of 2017 and more than 13,000 in September 2018. eXp Realty’s parent company, eXp World Holdings, Inc., began trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange in May 2018.
“Every day we wake up with the same goal we had nine years ago when we initially launched eXp Realty, and that is to build the brokerage that I would still be working at as an agent if it had existed when I was an agent,” says Sanford. “That is probably one of the most rewarding parts of building eXp Realty—building the future of real estate.”
Before he launched his real estate career in 2002, Sanford held significant roles at internet startups. In his fourth year in real estate with a major national franchise, his team closed more than $60 million in sales by connecting with consumers online.
