Continuing Series: Secure Login

September 6, 2007
Reading Time: 2 mins read

MRIS, September 10, 2007–This article is part of our continuing series on Secure Login-the added layer of security that will be implemented at MRIS near the end of the year. We understand that having to carry a token authentication device at all times to access Matrix, Keystone and mris.com will be a change for our membership. However, this particular device has proven itself extremely effective in protecting real estate agents’ vital information. Secure Login is currently being used by over 300,000 real estate professionals nationwide. Other large corporations are also using the SAFEMLSTM system. Here is some background on Secure Login that you may find helpful. You can find complete details on these bullet points on the MRIS Web site’s Secure Login page: www.mris.com/securelogin.

We will soon have more of your personal information, including your billing arrangements, bank account and credit card numbers available for you to view or edit through the My Account section of MRIS.com. Additionally, when transaction management is introduced, more of your customers’ personal information will be available online. With this level of flexibility in managing your account comes a high level of responsibility on our part to protect your information.

Your business need never be disrupted due to Secure Login. You can work on multiple computers with Secure Login. Temporary password alternatives are available 24/7 for lost or broken tokens.

At a later date, we will introduce alternative premium options for those who do not wish to carry a token. These options will include: text messaging on cell phones, Blackberry devices, and PDAs. And in the future, an electronic lockbox key device may also be used to obtain the SAFEMLSTM password. (The token is offered to you at no additional cost; premium options will require some related service fees.)

We estimate that at any given time, 10-20% of our online sessions involve users who are not paying MRIS customers. This is a growing problem due to several causes, including: inadvertent disclosure of passwords, sharing of passwords, and spy ware. MRIS has a vested interest in staying ahead of the curve when it comes to protecting your livelihood. Secure Login has proven itself as the best solution available at this time.

We really do appreciate your feedback and look forward sharing more information in the coming months, as implementation draws near.
