Staying Connected When the Office Has Wheels

How do you manage a business when most of your business takes place outside of the office? For many real estate professionals, their car serves as their office. The daily functions required to run a business, including client communication and job planning, take place outside their office. Real estate professionals need the same level of connectivity on site as they have in their homes and offices. Here are a few tips from Sprint for agents on the go.

Let’s start with the easiest. You can save time and fuel by using navigation apps on the smartphone or tablet that you may already have. Navigation apps can provide efficient travel routes to get employees where they need to go with audible turn-by-turn navigation, driving directions and trip planning.

According to the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, drivers are 23 times more likely to crash if they’re texting while driving. Sprint Drive First is an app that locks Android-powered smartphones when the phone’s GPS detects motion above 10 miles per hour. The app routes incoming calls to voice mail, silences notification alerts, and it can send a custom auto-reply to incoming text messages. Sprint Drive First permits 911 calls and it can be set to receive calls and messages from designated contacts. The app costs $2 per phone per month and there’s a 15-day free trial.

The wireless network is a real estate professional’s infrastructure. Smartphones, tablets, notebooks and business applications have become more sophisticated and consume significant amounts data, especially when you include photos and video of property. So agents need to pay attention to their rate plan. With a Sprint smartphone on an Everything Data Plan, you don’t have to be concerned with data usage and overages. You can just focus on serving your customers.
