4 Important Features for Today’s Luxury Buyer

From a ski home in the mountains to a penthouse in the city, there’s no one-size-fits-all definition for luxury real estate. Nonetheless, there are certain features that high-end buyers look for in a home, regardless of style or location. Following are a few such characteristics that are sure to garner plenty of interest in today’s luxury market.

Turnkey
Luxury homes that are completely updated and ready to be moved into are the ones receiving the most interest. From top to bottom, buyers are looking for turnkey properties that require zero work. Modern kitchens and bathrooms are always at the top of the list, but it’s just as important that the rest of the house is in mint condition. Large renovation projects are not something that most buyers are willing to take on right now.

Lavish Amenities
Many of today’s buyers are looking for homes that have it all, meaning they want the works when it comes to luxury amenities. A fitness room, home theater and swimming pool are commonly found atop the list of priorities when the home search begins. That’s because these properties provide a space where they can be active, comfortable and entertained all under their own roof.

Space and Privacy
A large piece of land is becoming an increasingly coveted luxury. Buyers want estate-like properties where the whole family can relax and enjoy themselves with ample privacy. In the city, this means that private outdoor space, like a backyard or rooftop terrace, is in high demand.

Fully-Equipped Guest Quarters
Today’s luxury homeowners want more than just a guest room. Many of them are seeking out properties with separate accommodations that have their own private kitchen and living area, like an in-law suite or guest house. Whether it’s for grown children, extended family or staff, having fully-equipped guest quarters delivers peace of mind.
