California Real Estate Brokers Organization Announce Inaugural Officers and Board Members

February 8, 2007
Reading Time: 3 mins read

RISMEDIA, Feb. 8, 2007-California Real Estate Brokers, Inc., a mutual benefit corporation (C.R.E.B.) formed in December 2006 has announced the organization's inaugural Officers and Board of Directors.

With twenty new board members representing High Volume Brokers and Broker Members in California, C.R.E.B. is positioned to boost the participation of the real estate brokerage community in MetroList®, the official Multiple Listing Service in the Northern California Central Valley serving El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Yolo and portions of Merced counties.

"In developing C.R.E.B., the brokers were committed to creating a governance model that would reflect the varying sizes and scope of all real estate brokerage companies," said Jan Sherman, newly elected president of C.R.E.B. and a representative from the small brokerage firms. "As a result, the board of directors is equally represented by ten large and ten small brokers."

The following were elected as High Volume Broker directors:

Jerry Abbott, Coldwell Banker-Grupe
Corky Davis, Davis & Davis Associates
Craig Dunnigan, Coldwell Banker-Dunnigan
Wayne Hall, Keller Williams Realty
Dan Jacuzzi, ERA Realty Center/Century 21 Select
Craig Lewis, Prudential California Realty
Michael Lyon, Lyon Real Estate
Don Sharp, RE/Max Woodland
Tim Yee, RE/Max Gold
Jon Zagaris, PMZ Real Estate

The following were elected as Broker Member directors:

Ralph E. Hammer, Jr., Lifestyle Real Estate Company
Mike Hyles, Re/Max 1st Choice – Pleasanton
Vallene Indvik, Premier Properties
Larry Madoski, Larry Madoski Broker
Ron Roberts, Ron Roberts Realty
Jan Sherman, Sherman & Associates Real Estate Company
Patti Smith, The Patti Smith Real Estate Group
Ron Tornell, Ron Tornell Broker
Mary Ann Trongo, Century 21 Trongo & Associates
Dick Vesperman, Realty World Choice Homes & Investments

In addition, Jan Sherman of Sherman & Associates Real Estate Company in Lodi, California will serve as president and Dan Jacuzzi of ERA Realty Center/C-21 Select in Sacramento, California will serve as secretary/treasurer.

"C.R.E.B.'s goal is to facilitate broker involvement in the development of plans and policies to help MetroList continue to be the best MLS in California," said Tom Beede, president and CEO of MetroList. "Although MetroList has always had significant broker participation on its Board of Directors, the new ownership structure requires that at least one-half of the MetroList Directors are real estate broker participants in the MetroList MLS and who are members of C.R.E.B."

This is a perfect relationship for the brokerage community and MetroList. "Since 1985 MetroList has been an innovative leader in the implementation of technology and forecasting future industry trends and needs for the real estate community. Brokers and agents have steadfastly supported MetroList in their efforts to bring about industry changes that include increased MLS data-base sharing throughout the region and state, while at the same time, maintaining local ownership to meet the specific geographic needs of our subscribers," added Sherman.

During the past three decades, the real estate industry has changed as technology and other advancements have streamlined the process of collecting and distributing information about property listed for sale with real estate brokerages participating in MLS. The creation of C.R.E.B. provides member brokers with a greater opportunity to be an equal partner in the continuing evolution of MetroList MLS.
