Brenda Maher stepped into the role of president of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England, New York and Hudson Valley Properties in 2025, guiding over 2,000 agents and 45 branch offices through a pivotal leadership transition. Maher immediately focused on cultivating a people-first culture, launching the companywide “Year of Community” initiative to strengthen agent engagement, retention and core values across the firm.
Her leadership drove both cultural and operational improvements, leading to decisive changes in underperforming offices to restore confidence and productivity. On the operational side, Maher focused on essential services, achieving significant increases in capture rates with Prosperity Home Mortgage and HomeServices Insurance, while also expanding leadership roles to sharpen focus on recruiting and profitability. She also provided agents with critical training resources to successfully navigate the post-settlement environment by reframing it as an opportunity for professionalism and increased value.
Maher’s influence extended beyond her firm this year; as a Board Director for SmartMLS, she was instrumental in the passage of a historic policy change that removed the Realtor® status requirement for MLS membership.
“From mentoring agents and developing leaders to influencing industry-wide policies that expand opportunities, knowing my work makes a meaningful difference has been deeply fulfilling,” says Maher.
Four industry leaders recently came together to discuss what it will take to succeed in the year ahead. The good news is, you don't have to look very far to get started. Read more.
