REALTOR® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo to Be Held May 11-16

REALTORS® will head to Washington, D.C., May 11-16, for the REALTOR® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, to advocate for policies that protect commercial and residential property ownership and investment and advance the real estate industry. Nearly 8,500 REALTORS® and guests are expected to attend the meetings.

Throughout the week, REALTORS® will attend educational sessions and meet directly with legislators, congressional and regulatory staff, and top industry executives to discuss the latest legislative and regulatory issues affecting residential and commercial real estate. The meetings will focus on extending the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act, reforming the patent system to protect small businesses, and ensuring the availability of safe and affordable mortgage financing for qualified borrowers.

REALTORS® will also be meeting with Obama administration officials and senior leadership at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service.

Speakers and guest panelists throughout the week include Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray; former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee; Move, Inc. (operator of realtor.com®) CEO Ryan O’Hara; and senior staff from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Office to discuss drone regulations.

At the meetings, NAR’s Chief Economist Lawrence Yun will share the latest outlooks for residential and commercial real estate markets during the Residential Economic Issues & Trends Forum on Thursday, May 14 from 8-10 a.m. and at the Commercial Economic Issues & Trends Forum later that same day from 1-3 p.m.

The Trade Expo will be open Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. More than 100 industry-leading companies will demonstrate the latest real estate products and services.

Onsite media registration is in the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel Atrium at the Help Desk/Registration Assistance Counter on Monday, May 11, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday, May 12, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 15, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.; and Friday, May 16, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Registration is free for credentialed media and is required to attend sessions.
