Business people jump on the arrow of growth, step by step

MARIS (Mid-America Regional Information Systems)—an MLS serving real estate professionals across Missouri and Illinois—has announced significant growth in both listing inventory and geographic coverage.

In 2026, MARIS stated it has experienced unprecedented expansion in listing activity, with total active inventory reaching 71,153 listings across all property types.

This growth is supported by MARIS’s growing regional footprint, the MLS stated, as it now serves more than 130 counties across Missouri and Illinois (an estimated 118,000 square miles). MARIS noted that the expanded reach allows brokers, agents and consumers access to property data across a diverse and expanding marketplace.

“MARIS isn’t just a big city MLS,” explained Cameron Paine, MARIS president and CEO. “We are focused on providing the most timely, accurate, comprehensive, and transparent data to our brokers and agents. Because we also pay attention to our suburban areas, farmland, rural, rental, and investment properties, there has been a strong uptick in listings from surrounding areas that feel their local MLS is disconnected from what consumers actually want.”

“The demand has been incredible,” Paine continued. “They all seem to be motivated by the same thing—to give their client’s listing the best exposure possible on a transparent and complete MLS marketplace.”

Illinois agent Jenni Rowe Studebaker with RE/MAX Alliance noted, “MARIS takes into account that the vast majority of consumers have no interest in hiding their listings on private networks. When I list a home, I explain to sellers that the more exposure your home gets, the more activity and showings we will get which typically results in more offers, a higher sales price, and/or more favorable terms to negotiate with. Offering a home to only a private group versus ALL the agents in the MLS—and all their buyers—can make a huge difference to a seller’s bottom line.”

Dennis Norman, chairman of MARIS and Broker of MORE Real Estate agreed, adding that “what this really shows is that transparency and exposure still matter.”

“Sellers benefit when their property is in front of the entire market, not segmented into private channels. As inventory grows and markets shift, having a centralized, accurate, and widely accessible data source isn’t just helpful, it’s essential,” he continued. “That’s where MARIS continues to deliver real value to brokers, agents, and ultimately the consumer.”

MARIS noted that its focus on delivering value to its brokers and agents blends a combination of advanced technology, robust data access, and ongoing education. Looking ahead, the MLS said it remains focused on expanding a transparent marketplace, increasing data accessibility and delivering innovative solutions that empower its growing network of subscribers and associations.
